Hello Skippers:
Greetings from the Gull Lake Boat Show Crew!! It’s cold and we are tired of frozen water, so we are “dreaming” of wood boats and the 3rd Annual Gull Lake Antique and Classic Boat Show.” We are expecting a bigger and better show for 2011. The show will again be at the docks of Bar Harbor on the Gull Lake channel. The skipper’s dinner is the evening of August 19th and the boat show is 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on the 20th.
This year the Classic Car Show will be held in the Zorbaz parking lot – giving us more space for boats on land. We also plan to have our classic boats tour on Gull Lake, but this year it is planned for Saturday after the show. One group will go up the channel and the other will tour the lake. Once again, if enough skippers wish to leave their boats at the Bar Harbor docks, we will have security. If you would like to store your boat overnight, we have complimentary indoor storage just three miles from Bar Harbor - just let us know before the show.
The skippers’ dinner will be at Bar Harbor and is only $20.00 per person, which will include your tip. The social hour will begin on the outdoor deck at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will follow at 6:30 p.m. Friends, family and first mates are invited (we need to know the number when you register). Slips will be assigned at the dinner. (In case of bad weather, dinner will be inside.)
Skipper registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 20th at Bar Harbor’s skipper tent and Bar Harbor will be open for breakfast. Launching ramps are at the public landing and the very capable launching crew will be at the Gull Channel Launch Ramp – just 100 yards from Bar Harbor and at the Causeway Ramp from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and again at 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on the 20th.
As we only have 50 water slips and 15 dry land spots available, please register as soon as possible. The class awards will include Skipper’s Choice, People’s Choice, Best Non-Motorized Craft (this includes rowboats, duck boats, canoes, sailboats - anything powered by people), Best Utility under 19 feet, Best Utility 19 feet and over, Best Runabout under 19 feet, Best Runabout 19 feet and over, Best Outboard Boat, Best Launch, Best Cruiser, Best Fiberglass and the Best in Show award as determined by experienced judges who each have over 40 years in the boat building and restoration business. All awards, except for the People’s Choice and the Best in Show award will be determined by the skipper’s vote.
We hope to see you in August and thank you for sending your registration and fee. We will send a confirmation of your registration (first come first serve) and when the slips are booked, those not confirmed will receive a refund of your fee or you can reserve a spot on land. Please make the check out to Wood Boat Shop LLC.
Sincerely, The Gull lake Boat Show Crew
